2008 Conference workshops were organized into four tracks:

  • Organization/Coalition Capacity Building

Within those focus areas, workshops were classified according to the following topics:

Objectives

Participants at the Speaking Many Languages conference:

 

  • Identified proven effective and emerging programs for reducing teen pregnancy, STI/HIV and other risky behaviors as well as improving the health and well-being of pregnant and parenting teens and their children.

 

  • Identified effective strategies for engaging family and building positive relationships among teen parents as well as with their parents and children.

 

  • Identified effective strategies for promoting positive youth development.

 

  • Described effective strategies to engage community, including the faith community, local, state and national decision makers and/or advocates to address issues affecting adolescent reproductive health.

 

  • Participated in discussion on the latest research and evaluation methodology in adolescent reproductive health care, early childhood development or violence research.

 

  • Described effective strategies for increasing male involvement in pregnancy prevention and/or parenting skills.

 

  • Described the impact of current legislation on access to services for teens.
